First , you need to get a gba ROM hack.If you don't have one yet, dont worry!!,download onw from here.
Usually, a ROM file willbe downloadable as a zip,7z or rar file.Extract them and get the gba file(it is advicable to create a folder for gba files to avoid troubles in future).To open a gba file, you need to use a gba emulator.
However, there may be some unpatched files with .ips or.ups format.To use this you need to patch them with the corresponding parent ROM file(it is available in the internet to download, we will provide the download link soon).


If you have a .nds game ,you will need to use a different emulator.Similarly for .gbc or .gb , you need another emulator.


The next step while playing a ROM is to get a suitable emulator for your device.There is a large amount of emulators available.We have sorted out a few emulators for you.
For windows :- Visual Boy Advance(VBA)
For iOS :- GBA4iOS
For linux :- Visual Boy Advance

Now you are ready to start playing.When you open a Pokemon ROM file in a gba emulator, the first screen loading will be like this:



Possible error to happen and how to troubleshoot 
Usually, you may encounter any of these 3 error's
  • White screen
  • The 1m sub-circuit board is not installed
  • Internal battery has run dry

Troubleshooting steps
  • For VBA 
  1. Open VBA.
  2. Go to Options -> Emulator -> Save Type -> Flash 128k
  3. Options -> Emulator -> Real Time Clock
  4. Options -> Gameboy -> Automatic
  5. Close VBA .
  6. Then open it again and load the rom once more.
  • For Myboy! 
  1. Check Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Cartridge Save Type -> Flash 128ka
